Just seen my first hedgehog sashaying up the garden wiggling his butt - only saw one once last year. Hadn’t put the feeding station or food out because of the wind, but it was out there within seconds (with a big rock on it to stop it blowing away). I so want to make our garden the destination garden for some of the local hedgehogs - will put the nature camera out when the risk of winds has passed. I’m ridiculously pleased (and relieved that it’s not rats living under next door’s shed).

Lovely. I haven’t seen a hedgehog for decades. I hope yours hangs around for some time.
Great stuff Sherra. Have a word with Boaty from the Early Birds thread. He has been a h/og "keeper" for years and may well have a few tips. Get that camera out there next week and you will have an audience. Been a while since we saw one...…..but we do have a Stoat visit now and again. Lithe beggars they are.

It/they had better hang around - on the back of a 10 second sighting last year I have bought a hedgehog house (with camera), a hand-made feeding station (with flowers painted on it and a ‘prickle stop’ sign - it looked more welcoming than a maufacured one), a nature camera and huge bag of hedgehog food :)
/// It had better hang around ///

It's bound to with a big rock on it.

Oh, that was the feeding station, ooops my bad.
You will have to call it Sonic if it moves that fast Sherr :))

Or Sony...……..Sony and Sherr. Haha.
Aww. I've not seen any here yet although we had several last year.

They used to love scavenging under the bird feeders. And my goodness do they make a racket when they are mating!

V good Togo :)

I absolutely adore hedgehogs (we used to have a season pass for Mrs Tiggywinkles) - apparently your lucky if hedgehogs visit you, so fingers crossed.
And my goodness do they make a racket when they are mating!

Not surprised with all those prickles !
lol, fair point TonyAV. I suppose I'd blinkin yell with all those pricks.
Although today we had 7 male pheasants in the garden. They are truly stunning, their colours are magnificent.

Mr BM asked me what I was looking at. I said "I'm just looking at all those impressive cocks". He just smirked and said "no change there then".
I am glad you have a hedgehog, they are lovely creatures.

It was quite sweet really (after I’d (selfishly) gone out to see it - himself spotted it first) I called my eldest daughter and when we came in she had tears in her eyes (she’s my partner in crime when it comes to animals and birds).
The adjective "shimmering" would have fitted perfectly between impressive and cocks there BM.
Noisy feckers aren't they!!
I don’t really like hedgehogs, :*(
Wonderful, Sherr.....I had a photo from the daughter yesterday of the hedgehog caught on her wildlife camera.......a bit early I thought but bliss!....x
In January my dogs found mother Tiggy with three newborns. The size of my thumb and skin like a plucked chicken. Re located to safer nest and doing well
That's great, sherr.
I absolutely love hedgehogs and had one in the garden last year. Like you, bought a hedgehog house which he didn't use. A camera, too, and had lots of pictures of him for several weeks.
Will start putting food out soon but blowing a hooley today - worse than ever.
Keep an eye on it it's turning cold again.
Question Author
He/she has eaten some food (because there’s food scattered all over the ground) so that’s good news. The weather here is not supposed to be getting cold but I will keep an eye on him/her.
