...thank you, alwaysconfused - where can I see this confirmed on the internet, I have read a quote that it was Eddery. I originally thought Piggott but having seen the quote, it caused doubt. I cant seem to find the answer on any records.

http://www.jockeysite.com/stories/pateddery.htm sees Eddery winning seen races
from Always link....2 courses Newmarket and Newcastle.

...thanks for 18 link but I'd been there, it looks obvious but not confirmed as there is a Devon connection as well...and 45 is probably Murless as he trained Magic Court but not when it won at Cheltenham (but he did train the horse)...and 23 I can only find reference to Quentilian's breeding and the fact that it won the Berkshire Stakes, which is when it might have beaten Sandford Lad.
I've submitted my answers now, so thanks and fingers crossed.
