I want a security camera to monitor the outside of my house but want to install the camera indoors looking out of the window, primarily because it will be so much easier.

Does anyone know if this will work both during the day and night?

I just tried it and the red lights do reflect back from the glass so you can't see anything outside. It is double glazing which might make a difference.

if its at night you have get an infra red cam, unless you have a outside automatic light

Wouldn't the infrared just show glare on the window?
If it does I'm unsure what else you would use. "Suck it and see" ?
I have just set up a moveable d link camera which works day and night. Its to monitor my dogs so faces inward. Tonight once its dark, I will try putting it on the windowsill to see what it can see and I will let you know.

Thanks for that, you've saved me money and trouble.

Back to the drawing board.

Or, of course, an inside camera with an outside light.
