Did you or your home town take part in this at 8.12am today? I nearly missed seeing it on BBC Breakfast as had only heard about it once or twice and only switched the news on a 8.10am and had forgotten about the event. What a pity it wasn't advertised more ............ I couldn't hear our town's church bells ringing, did your town or city (or you) take part? I think it was a lovely idea. :)

I was on my way to work at the time and I stuck my head out of the window to listen, but couldn't hear anything. I was a bit disappointed really as all the radio stations seemed to be joining in.
Our village church rang it's bells at 8:12, those were the only ones I heard though!
I was asleep.

The BBC (quite rightly) made a lot of it, Sian and Bill on the Breakfast sofa were ringing their hand bells very loudly and continuously for the full 3 mins required. Big Ben chimed non-stop for 3 mins, they filmed it. They showed people taking part all over the country, I felt quite out of it, I should have got up and rung my door bell! :) I switched over to Daybreak on ITV and they didn't cover it at all, only mentioned it briefly after the event - I wonder why they chose not to? when they were doing Olympic topics all the programme.
no.
It was the first I'd heard of it, this morning!
I thought it was tonight, because by using the 24 hour clock it would be at 20:12
i was driving home from my mini-break away.
so i missed it, unfortunately.
Nope, none here.

I think everyone was a bit annoyed with the timing though. If it has been a bit later, or at lunch time it would have had more of an uptake.

But then, we're all spared from this kind of dangerous action from Government ministers:
This event obviously passed me by. This is the first I've heard of it and haven't heard any bells except my grandaughter's bell on her bike.
Don't know about Mr Hunt hitting a woman with a bell end, more a case of him ..... you can work it out can't you!

Haha I've just seen that "It'll be alright on the night" incident on the news Ed. Jeremy Hunt MP was really laughing about it, the bell flew off its handle as he was ringing it, a real comedy moment! Thank goodness it didn't hit anyone though!
Just our two mobiles here in darkest Lancashire. Sort of peeped along to each other for a minute, then did something useful.
Couldn't understand why both our adjoining parishes had weddings at the same time, and so early. I was even wondering whether it was legal! I'm right next door to one church, and only sleepily realised the truth after looking out to a complete absence of anyone's relatives trying to look as though they liked one another.
I absolutely adore the title of that clip Ed!
