They are in your face every day

The Rock at Bury Lancs today, I do support/ I will support, but I do not want people in my face with bloody buckets, this was the case today with people collecting for the Alzheimer's cause I walked straight passed.
I know what you meen TWR they are absolutely everywhere arn't they..then you go home and theres another plastic sack wanting clothes donated in your letterbox.. then you turn on the tv and some celebrity is asking for donations for some poor little urchin in africa. I wish they would all give us a break..Being a tax payer I've already given aid to needy people via our generous government..

i try to support charities such as cancer charities..i do draw the line at giving to charities that send aid overseas however,as has been said the government does more than enough without the public doing their bit..and im not convinced that all of it goes to building schools and providing water supplies etc etc..
I agree Mrs M.The time they have spent asking for donations for projects you mention it makes you wonder if there is a hidden agenda, or worse, misplaced financial transactions.
too many full stop. and ive noticed many do not have any ID, so doubt whether some are legit.
Charity begins at home! Is this true, or is this just an old wives tale?
I'd rather donate to a tin rattler than to a chugger who is paid to get people to sign up. We have so many in Manchester and not just on the weekends, it's often like running the gauntlet down the main shopping street (especially when you throw in beggars, buskers and the like, free papers, surveys, evangelists etc...). They can be quite aggressive too, following you down the street and trying to make you stop then the guilt tripping.

They were talking about restricting them a while back due to the issues and think they can only now stand in certain confined places in town.

We now apparently have restrictions to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am to 6pm, a maximum of 20 on the numbers working at any one time and restricted zones.
someone from a well known charity tried to do that to me, stopped me for a quick chat, 15 minutes later i walked away, when he asked me to sign on the dotted line, bank details the works, in the middle of the street, no chance
Em thats not asking for a donation thats intimidation bordering on demanding money with menace.
I`m afraid the old two word farewell would have to be applied if it were me however, you are probably too much of a lady to make that response;

It said something on the link above about how one charity makes 4 x the amount of sending someone out. I do wonder though how many people just sign up then cancel right away.
A couple of guys were in a local supermarket a few weeks back - collecting for Dogs Trust. Their approach was heavyhanded and it was difficult to get a word in as they said their speech. I told them that I gave to Cats Protection but he still talked on, blocking my escape route. When he realised that he was not getting any money out of me he was not very happy.
I ignore them all!...........I do give to charities, the ones of my choice, and by direct debit!............That's it!..............
I wouldn't mind so much if they were pleasant and ok if you couldn't stop or didn't want to give but effectively they are sales people after commission which just makes me even less likely to entertain giving to them - if I wanted to donate then I'd go direct. With the sales approach comes the aggressive tactics. I'd had to be quite rude to some of them before now and struggled to get rid of them even when I make it clear from the off that they are wasting their time and will not get any money out of me that day. They probably see it as a challenge!
Oh Jenna, I have perfected the art of ignoring them!...........I never ever, look at them, if they approach me I scowl, and say 'No thank you' and then I walk slowly away!....works every time!.........
Where I live there is a practice which annoys me, a group will find a busy crossroads and stand in the middle of the road on all junctions. They virtually stop the cars proceeding unless you put money in the buckets. The police seem to ignore it.
