Those fish and chip crisps tasted like cardboard! They did chicken and chips ones too.
I loved these little piggy shaped ones that were bacon flavour (quelle surprise).

They used to do these pudings too that came in a packet like Angel Delight, but the pud was warm and you had some stuff to sprinkle on the top? I think they were chocolate or butterscotch or something.

Beef Monster Munch rocked (the ones in the yellow packet with the pink monster on them). And do you remember those yoghurts that were monster shaped pots and they had feet? And the posh kids at school had packets of cartoonies in their lunch box or those Cadburys animal biscuits.

hedgehog flavour crisps!
I didn't like those fish and chips/chicken and chips much, they were a bit cardboardy, weren't they Nat?
I did like Space Raiders and those puffs crisps, especially the beef flavour. Did anyone else crush them up to make them last longer?

didn't like the chicken n chips version but the fish n chips were a bit more-ish! i wish i had a pack now.
I remember eating bags and bags of penny chews and have still only had one filling!!
Rice pudding with jam in
Yep, cartoonies had chocolate inside them. The other thing people went mad for but I didn't like, well, we didn't get them actually, but no kiddies Birthday party was complete without..... Iced Gems. And they tasted like carboard too.

Hellie, I remember being seriously impressed because they were shaped like fish. And chips ironically. But alas they were horrible.

In fact, in hindsight, most 80s treats tasted like crap. I must have spent from 1984-1990 high on E-numbers.
Fizz Wizz space dust, chocolate cigarettes, cola cubes and dip-dabs :)
Errmmm....doesn't anyone remember any real food-? For me it was my mums homemade pasta sauce-it would be on the stove for HOURS....that and an American cake called Drakes Cakes....sponge covered in milk choc with a vanilla creme centre-mmmmm.
Question Author
yep 80's treats did have a distinctive cardboard taste to them, oh but i do miss them and the sugar and E number highs!

PF, I don't think my mum knew what pasta was when I was little!
Dad would make fish pie, shepherds pie, liver and bacon casserole, etc on occassion but mostly it was sausage and chips, burger and chips, chicken nuggets and chips, pizza and chips..... you can see a theme emerging here. It was more due to my brother's fussiness than their laziness to be fair.

I remember those Rainbow Drops too, and Lucky Charms! And those Eyeball bubble gums you got from the ice cream man.

And like people swear that wagon wheels and monster munch were bigger, I am sure Calypso lollies were longer.
Corned Beef Hash made by my Mum on a Monday
Potatoe Hash made by my Mum on a Tuesday
Cheese and Potato Pie made by my Mum on a Wednesday
Pork Chops for a treat with Pork spice on the top on a Thursday.
Chippy on a Friday - with a cheap bottle of pop (that you could take the empty back the following week and get 5p off your next bottle.

Katie.

i love chocolate sponge with mint custard!!!!
I liked those little cup cakes chocolates you could buy with a pick-n-mix. they had different coloured foil on them.

Really sickly, but yum yum!
mum fed me on findus crispy pancakes, fish fingers and chips.
at school i ate lots of sweets, gob stoppers, crisps of all varietys, chelsea woppers, irn bru bars golf ball chewing gums
mushroom chews, teeth chews, 10p mixtures, sherbet fountains, dib dabs, marathons, wispas, toffets,
and i drank brightly coloured juice which also made me hyper for hours. (my grandparents had a sweet shop)
my diet has improved greatly these days, although ive many teeth extracted due to previous habits
radiogaga
