In fairness it had to go. All the streets are "Black Boy" streets now making it almost impossible to distinguish them apart ... plus they all look the same to some. White Boy streets are non existent though.
Does it also apply to Black Horse Street or do horses not have feelings?
Black Horse lives matter.
A friend of mine lives near a pub called the Black Boy.
We have a narrow cut through road in Northfield called the Darkies, as it's in the old village it's unlikely to get changed.
Blackfriars Road is doomed.

Just for info ... none of the residents including the black ones wanted the name changed and have instead started to put up their own signs saying "Black Boy Lane". Haha.

Their next waste of effort will be to change the borough name to Harringidentifying.

The debate on dropping Harri altogether rages on.

It's no wonder there's a mental health crisis.
Having lived in Haringey, none of us black people were offended back then.
I think this has been whipped up out of all proportion as this street name wasn't derogatory.
I bet they won't be changing Wightman Road in same borough.
Oppressors Way maybe?
The Black Boy pub had a black horse on the pub sign.

Sharon, I come from down the road from there, Wood Green, though I don’t live there now. Growing up, knowing the road and knowing the Black Boy pub, we never gave it a thought that it was actually called Black Boy, if that makes sense. In fact, for years, I thought it was Black Bouy :0)
Shame, all this name changing. Doesn't solve or help anybody.
Absolutely, Sharon.
Bunch of morons proving to be in charge again.

I suspect the original name probably reflected history, which some seem to want to change.
Any money spent that annoys grumpy old gammons is money well spent.
The Black Boy pub in Sevenoaks, named for its connection with mining, has been renamed The Restoration.

I've used the pub for years, and needless to say everybody still calls it The Black Boy.
Including this prissy wee website, apparently. Jesus.
