Have navigated the site, found the cancel option, clicked on it but nothing happens, no further page opens asking “am I sure you want to cancel” etc. No email notification that my benefits are cancelled. Any tips. Thanks.

if you ring and havent used it they will cancel from the sign up date and if you have used it once they will cancel from the day after you used it

It’s really easy. Open Amazon, go to your where it says ‘Hello, accounts and lists’ (top right), a drop down menu appears. On the right hand side it says ‘your Prime membership’, click that and then click the box on the right of the screen that says ‘membership - update, cancel and more’.
I cancelled just as sherrardk suggested. My husband ordered something and accidentally clicked on Prime, I had warned him of this as it is easy to do. I found it easy and received confirmation of my cancellation. This was probably 6 or 8 months ago.
What you have to understand, more so since the beginning of this year, is that its really really easy to set up a payment for anything or pay for anything in whatever way, BUT, by gum their will find and use anyway they can to make life difficult for you to cancel or get money back. Its a bit like paying for a holiday / booking one, they will promise you the earth, but once they have you're cash, you will have to move heaven on earth to even get them to talk to you. :0)
