this should be in food but just want to let you know all - that I will never buy ready made meals again - they're all "nothing".

Nothing compared to your own home cooking. Bought 3 individual meals recently according to one poster here. I could have ate the 3 meals together.

Prawn, 3 pieces, Chicken Arriabariat, 4 pieces (if I was lucky) and spaghetti bologonese - tommy sauce and a piece of meat.

No not for me. Will cook my own and freeze.

ah yah better believe it. - I have left out my ingredients to make a great big lasagne tomorrow (when I hopefully get home from the hairdressers).
Do those mince and dumplings I showed you
They are expensive as well - false economy
mm, nice Charlie Bigham's lasagne for one and think of the time you'd save. (Cheaper brands are probably available.)
Homemade is the way to go.
You know what's in the meals and you make it meatier & tastier.
How do you not know this already?
Ready meals have their place and are really useful for time poor people. You only have to look at the price of them to work out they’re not exactly going to be gourmet.
Sher...I've just made a pasta dish for lunches. Mainly fresh ingredients. I estimate it cost about £1 a portion.
Make your own ready meals by concentrating on just one recipe and get some batch cooking done.. label it and put them in the freezer.
Another day use another recipe and do the same again.
Before you know it you will havea freezer full of a selection of meals.
I've had lots of delicious ready meals, M&S in particular and as I despise cooking think they are a godsend for some people.
Well, I'll certainly sleep better, tonight, for knowing this jennyjoan. Thanks for sharing.....
Last time I attempted to cook a meal I welded have of it to one pan and managed to set fire to the other pan.

I like ready meals and they are not all junk meals.
I always have some in for days when I am not up to cooking - you do learn to be discerning in what you buy.
M&S are good. You couldn't feed a family on a budget though.
Charlie Bigham's fish pie is good, and his cottage pie, Marks chicken kievs, Sainsbury's barbecue ribs. No none of them are cheap, yes you could make it yourself cheaper. The Waitrose pasta meals are good value. I find that any of them make a decent satisfying meal.
M&S are still doing 2 meals for £12 .. that is 2 mains,
2 sides and 2 puddings .. with a free bottle of wine.
Can't ever remember having a bad one.
Sadly I can no longer eat most of their food.
I don't like the thought of the plastic from all those ready meals going into the environment.
And yes, I know they are recycled but they will still be here decades from now. Is it really worth it?
