"Emmanuel Macron suggests building its own army to protect Europe against the U.S., China and Russia. But it was Germany in World Wars One & Two - How did that work out for France? They were starting to learn German in Paris before the U.S. came along. Pay for NATO or not!"
Some of it is true - in 1945 my father ( German POW) WAS starting to learn ..... Russian. They were shut scared they would be 'liberated' by the Russians and conducted to a Siberian concentration camp. There was a secret treaty to conduct them south and east to the Black sea and ship them home .... used by one camp only

// So you're happy with Macron's comments then?//
happier than with the alternative
Trump praised the young doughboys who died at St Mihiel actually. and no mention of the international effort. In fact the man of the hour Pershing did NOT agree to a unified leadership. This would mean putting the doughboys under well known failures. So the first year was learning lessions which had been learnt by the British French and er Germans in 1914. The Germans announced in the Raat that with a split Allied command ( and split war aims), the Prussians could not lose the war....
The point of the American forces in Europe is that the next conventional war will be fought by Americans. In Europe. so it seems odd that Trumps is saying - "if ya doan pay - you doan get the occupation".
If he withdraws troops then he guarantees that the next struggle will be nearer the White House.
so yes we are in a period of change which may not necessarily be to our advantage

You're the one ignoring Macron's crassness...but that hardly surprises me.
Anyway can't be bothered to listen to you, I'm quite tired after today's traveling and a visit to Military graveyard. American soldiers there among other nations...you know, Americans, allies of the French.
We need a European army in case our allies attack us. Pillock.
