Bullied into it by Trump's threat over funding.
Disgraceful way to behave towards people who have had their land stolen from them.........
Question Author
who's had their land stolen?
It is rather a shame to see the US behaving like Russia. In other words effectively bullying countries into following its line. The Russians use bribery, Trump blackmail. Putin and Trump are indeed two of a kind. Bad news for the world.
The issue of what it means to the Palestinians is not the most important consideration here.

not sure why you find it odd that nations have their embassy in the capital gromit, that is common practice. Not sure even why Islam is bothered about a city that has existed for nearly 3000 years longer than Islam itself, strange.

Question Author
i'm talking about the region historically, that "state" was declared in 1988. Palestine in the biblical sense is the generally considered to be the sout east med area between Syria/Jordan and the sea.
TTT, you are arguing for arguments sake,We are discussing modern issues, not old biblical ones. Those are my last words with you on this subject.
Question Author
"We are discussing modern issues, not old biblical ones" - I'm not, I'm trying to establish why Islam has any sort of claim on a city that has existed for 3000 years longer than Islam. If you want to talk about the region as it is now start your own thread.
Question Author

Right, now - was the state of Israel created after WWII?

If so, what was there beforehand, and do the people who were there before Israel was created have a valid point that the land was theirs?
Question Author
ok SP: The area of Palestine was controlled by the British after the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in 1917, from then to the end of WWII it was essentially a mixture of Arabs and Jews, at times in conflict and at times even tolerating each other. In 1922 the British where officially granted control over the area by the league of nations, that declaration included approval to partition the area between the jews and the Arabs. It was agreed by the Jews but not the Arabs. The area limped on until 1947 when after WWII Britain declined to manage the area further. The UN then implemented the afore mentioned LON resolution and partitioned the area.
