I wonder who Teresa will choose to be the next Defence Secretary ?

Boris perhaps ? Or may be a woman ?

But does anyone really believe that Fallon had no choice but to resign, because he touched someones knee, 15 years ago ? I strongly suspect that there is a bomb ticking away somewhere, that will come to the surface within the next day or so

It is when that's your majority, ymb. The trouble is that there are obviously more sexual harassment allegations to come, so she has to be extremely careful who she chooses lest exactly the same thing happen to them. She lost so many MP's due to her catastrophic election result she may be hard pressed to find a suitable candidate.
If he has bombs he'd be perfect for defence. Attack too.

I have just read the dossier naming various Tory MPs involved in possible sex scandals. Quite a few people that Teresa might have considered for Fallons replacement would not now be possible.

IMHO Damien Green will be the next to fall on his sword.

Teresa is a completely beleaguered PM, and she must now be considering resigning herself.
To be fair Mikey Unless there is more to come on Fallon ,
I think this is a case of mountain and mole hill, and he should not have resigned, as you say though, there MAY be more to come.
I would offer the job to Corbyn. (Can she do that?) we will very quickly see how out of his depth he is and he will have a bit of a shock when he realises the real world isnt like it is in his head.

Mikey, how come you are omitting to mention the Labour party transgressors?

Cassa....how on earth could Teresa offer a job of Defence Secretary, to the Leader of Her Majesties Opposition ?

Gulliver....I don't think, for one moment, that the only indiscretion Fallon has made was a relatively mild one, 15 years ago. He has clearly resigned before he could be sacked.

It will all come out in the wash.
// how on earth could Teresa offer a job of Defence Secretary, to the Leader of Her Majesties Opposition ? //

Not a problem I would have thought, maybe the question should be WHY on earth would Teresa ...... ?
//He has clearly resigned before he could be sacked. //
Evidence of this please?

Danny...I am on record as saying that this present scandal is not confined to any particular party.

But Fallon was the Defence Minister, and that is the subject of this debate.

If and when any Labour MP resigns over a sexual indiscretion, you can expect the same comments from me.
I agree with Gulliver
I wait with bated breath.
//She lost so many MP's due to her catastrophic election result //

13 is catastrophic ?
Question Author
If most appear to be agreeing that Fallon's indiscretion was relatively mild, and a long time ago, then why did he resign ?
I suspect, like you Mickey that there are more serious skeletons in the closet.

However as Gulliver says it is a "MAY" at the moment.
It is when that's your majority, ymb.

The trouble is that there are obviously more sexual harassment allegations to come, so she has to be extremely careful who she chooses lest exactly the same thing happen to them. Meanwhile the government is now frequently abstaining from votes in parliament (because they know they will lose) AND risks having its arrangement with the DUP fall through due to the crisis in NI.

The government is falling apart.
The answer to your question is that he thinks by going now for a minor indiscretion that the hounds will be called off.

Whatever's coming will be damaging, humping a Russian spy or keeping a stable of rent boys? We'll see soon enough.
Question Author
Dougie....if Fallon really thinks that by resigning now, the hounds are going to back off, then he is a fool.
Won 318, down by 13. That is 4%. In the context Eddie is using i.e. she has no one left to choose, that is no way catastrophic.

Question Author
YMB....she called an Election that she didn't need to call, and in the process, lost her working majority.

Not catastrophic perhaps but very foolish and completely unnecessary.
