This is the second time in two years ! It was said on the radio news this morning, that the cladding is probably to blame.

You beat me to it I was just about to report this.
Looks very much like a repeat of Grenfell towers.
saw this on news earlier, it was reported that all got out safely.
but twice in 2 years beggars belief !!
Question Author
Certainly does Eddie....one big difference though. The residents are not poor, as the flats are priced at at least
£381,000 !

Also....was "The Torch Tower" really an appropriate name for this building ?
// The residents are not poor, as the flats are priced at at least
£381,000 ! //

How is that relevant? The wealthy are as vulnerable to the effects of fire as the poor.

Yes but perhps the residents made homeless by this disaster will get a bit more sympathy because they aren't seen as benefit scroungers ?
Don't be daft
Talbot, you took the words out of my mouth.
mikey you really think all council tower block residents are benefit scroungers !!
They were all subletting as well....apparently!

Do they have Benefits in Dubai?
Rather an unfortunate name for a Tower that caught fire.

(And no, before anyone starts, I would not be so flippant if anyone had been hurt)
Must have been terrifying, thank goodness all were evacuated.
The wealthy are as vulnerable to the effects of fire as the poor.

They aren't. London's poor died. Dubai's rich did not.
Sorry, but what a ridiculous thing to say jno. It has nothing to do with wealth, and for the record that fire seemed to spread fast upwards too.
Wealth is nothing to do with it. Rich or poor, they have probably lost memories of family.

No, of course I don't think that. But look at comments made on recent threads, regarding the surviving tenants of Grenfell Tower.
"Yes but perhps the residents made homeless by this disaster will get a bit more sympathy because they aren't seen as benefit scroungers ?"

They may or may not get a bit more sympathy, What they will not get is a bit more support. They will be told (as I would be if a similar disaster was visited upon me and Mrs NJ) to extract our insurance policy from the ashes and get on with it.

Anyway, I blame this government.
Question Author
On that we will agree NJ !
Are you clear on what you are agreeing with, mikey?
