in my cynical opinion even though news agencies are saying its him could be a case of the guildford four where the authorities needed to calm public fears
The British Government should follow International Law, and assassinations such as this are illegal. The Israelis and Americans have long ignored the law and taken out their enemies, and illegally occupied countries. They get away with it, is little wonder Cameron gets in on the act.

While no one will shed a tear for the passing of this wahhabi nutcase (if reports of his death are true), he was an extremist fanatic but we are supposed to be civilised and better than him. Blowing him to bits, though fitting, was the wrong way for us to behave.

He showed absolutley no compassion for his victims/prisoners, no Geneva Convention rules obeyed there, so taking him out at the first opportunity was entirely correct in my opinion.
It seems that JJ was not fit to walk the earth. If he had been taken alive and put on trial, there was the possibility that a soft-hearted judge might have put him jail, rather than having him strung up. But now that he is dead, that will not happen. Justice has been done.
Not sure I see the point in trying to arrest people like this. It's not as if he is the only person engaged in atrocities - what some people might call "war crimes" in fact, except that they tend to reserve such terms for Tony Blair etc (!)

So called "Jihadi John" had become a bit of a celebrity, and no doubt was targeted as much for propaganda purposes as much as anything. But presumably he was still an active combatant. If one opposes all acts of aggression against IS then that is a consistent position: otherwise, why single this one out for criticism?
would have been nice to watch him suffer a bit. I mean for all his horrendoucrimes and he gets probably a fantastic pain free death (if he was in the immediate blast zone). Also he would not have anticipated it coming either. So its a perfect way to go. I wish I could die ike that someone would be doing me a favour.
They should have caught him an gave him a bit of his own treatment if you ask me. But then again opinions are but an irrelevance we spend too much time upon.
Ich,
// If one opposes all acts of aggression against IS then that is a consistent position: otherwise, why single this one out for criticism? //

That is a good point. I have long advocated that we must stop ISIS and this raid is consistant with that. Ignore my first post.
Looks like a political 'trophy killing' to me.
I'm skeptical as towhether he really was killed or not.
arrest them and send for trial ?

AOG this isnt Cheltenham or St IVes

Policeman: Hello jay jay can you get in this car please
Jihadi John for it is he: watch out or I will cut you into little bits ( in scouse accent )
Policeman: there is no need to be like that sir - hop in we have a few questions for you itll be over in a trice
J John - I have been sent by God to kill you etc etc

or perhaps knowing what British Justice is
he might have given himself up
-
or hoped on the shuttle from Sharm el Sheikh - lots of seats I think

well it could happen I suppose
Certain people are not supposed to be tried. Because they may say something that a few people or countries may not want others to know about.
Could he have revealed the fact that ISIS is a creature of American foreign policy?
Or that most of ISIS,s equipment is American and they are funded by our mates the Saudis.
Hope he died screaming.

Far too many naive mugs around

Dead, Gone....Forgotte

put him on trial the scum becomes a cause celebre and we would be held to ransom...
I care just about as much as he and all the other deluded fanatics cared about the brutal murder of their victims just wish he suffered more
Now he is a stiff, lets move on .
The lawyer in me says he should have been tried and then sentenced accordingly. The human in me says, hell yes, nuke the b******.
Perhaps tried in a state in America that still had the death penalty.
They did the right thing imo. If he had been captured and put on trial I think ISIS would have taken hostages with the threat of release him or we kill hostages.
