Judging by the bleeding heart comments from most of the Daily Mail readers , I don't suppose I can't expect any different from ABers on here especially from the female ones.

i wonder if the response would have been the same had it been her husband that took the lives of those three small mites?

Or even if a husband ended the life of his much loved terminally ill wife?

You're released from a psychiatric hospital when you are recovered enough from the illness.
she has been through the justice system, wouln't it be decent to leave this family alone. and using the sexist card is just ridiculous aog.

I don't think anyone can understand what it is like to look after a disabled child unless you have done so.

My wife and I have a slightly disabled son, and he is now 24, but it has been a roller coaster ride since he was born, and it still is.

So I hate to think what is must be like to look after 3 severely disabled children, the mental strain must be incredible.

And lets face it, how many women would find it in their heart to kill their own child.

She was obviously mentally unstable when she did it, with her husband away so she was on her own.

And what good does it do to leave her in prison, who does that benefit?

At least now she can look after her surviving child and try to get her life back in order.

And she will always have the memory she killed 3 of her children, and how many of us could live with ourselves if we had done that.
Why does the cost of her home come into it?

Why do these 'get out of jail free cards' i.e. sexist, racist etc. only work one way?
The original story was tragic enough without you trying to bolt on your hypothetical gripes onto it.

Yes it was tragic, the killing of three innocent children, couldn't be more tragic and since the perpetrator was their mother, that makes it even more tragic, and then to be released after only four months of treatment??????????

I think I have every right to comment on it, perhaps you would have wished to see this woman carry on with her life, without even going through the trauma of a trial?
This woman committed a heinous act. I think it is remarkable, even unbelievable, that she has been cured in such a short space of time.
\\\\She was obviously mentally unstable when she did it, with her husband away so she was on her own. \\\

and now some months later, she is fit to be released into the community.

What treatment was that?

A big call for the Psychiatrists...............I hope they were right.
///I think I have every right to comment on it, perhaps you would have wished to see this woman carry on with her life, without even going through the trauma of a trial? ///

Of course you have that right. It's just that your right also extends to conjouring up endless 'What if it had been a man/a muslim/an immigrant' scenarios.

I am glad that she was prosecuted and am also glad that she has been treated and supported through this dreadful time.

Her husband is standing by her and I suggest that *that* should be enough for anyone?
The original judge decided (on the basis of rather more than a Daily Mail article) that she was ill and needed treatment, not punishment.

The doctors have made a (possibly brave) call that she is no longer a danger to herself or anyone else.

She has a support network (primarily her husband) who will help her continue to recover.

There is no reason not to release her.

Whether 'society' would have treated someone else differently is utterly irrelevant.
I forgot to add ...

There is an interesting debate to be had about how "the same crime does not attract the same punsihment". I have some very strong views on the use of what AoG has described as 'get out of jail free' cards.

Attaching that debate to this particular event is not appropriate.
as we all are aware, not all treatment requires a hospital stay ( even mental health issues ) can and are treated in the community.
ANOTHEOLDGIT, what evidence do you have that had the father of the three wee ones committed the crime, he would have been treated more severely?

What evidence do you have that she should not have been discharged?

What evidence do you have that the remaining daughter should not be looked after by her mother?

/// Her husband is standing by her and I suggest that *that* should be enough for anyone? ///

In all of history there has been many Husbands, Wives, Boyfriends, Girlfriends, Partners, relatives etc, that have stood by mass murderers, but that doesn't make it right.
Perhaps we could all save a lot of time if you would let us know the type of replies you would find acceptable?
How about we agree that the medical and legal experts involved in the case know a wee bit more about the details than anyone one this thread?
I would more than happy to go along with that Corby !
/// I don't suppose I can't expect any different from ABers on here especially from the female ones. ///

So our favourite xenophobic paranoid is also sexist - Quelle surprise !
