I am stuck on several. 1d: Ireland overture - noisy track, curtailed and edited. ??TR???N 14a: Religious guidance for fugal writing (5,3) ????N/?A? 28a: One Greenwich location restaged ENO's Mozart production. Help (with explanations if possible) would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance and a Merry Christmas to all who read this

1d) Satirycon http://anagram-solver.net/noisy+trac (assuming 9 letters not 8)

is an Overture by John Ireland http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Ireland_(composer)#Orchestra
14a) canon law

double meaning http://www.thefreedictionary.com/canon+law and a canon is also a form of fugue

Thanks very much for that. Giving the correct answer when you have been given the wrong data in the first place (missing a "?") - that is brilliant!
how many letters for 28a? (looks like it might be an anagram but not coming up with anything so far)
Idomineo?
oops ..... Idomeneo
28a.Idomeneo( I + dome + anagram of eno)
Question Author
Thanks to both of you and apologies for the typo's in the original questions.
ah, was thinking of the Greenwich meridian which is at zero latitude which, in turn, made me think it might be an anagram
28a Idomeneo would fit.
One Greenwich location = I DOME
Restage (jumble up letters) ENO
Put I DOME with ENO and you get Idomeneo.
