Despite having owned one (I eventually gave it away) I have never cooked using a slow cooker and find some of the recommendations on here for wonderful recipes quite baffling......no offence intended to slow cooker fans!

What have you never done, guilty secret or secret weapon in the kitchen?

I have a slow cooker that I used twice. I think they are a bit rubbish.

I bought an egg boiler...errr, that was a waste of time.
I have not got a slow cooker, think for families they must be a boon.

My favourite little gadget (rarely used) is a 1950's boiled egg wedge cutter.
I was given an egg poacher... that I've never used.

Yeah, because you can't poach an egg without one, right?
Ridiculously expensive Mandoline - aka "the bastard finger slicer" ...
Confession - that something I make that my friends thinks it takes days to make is actually out of a can!!!
Does it have to be on a culinary theme, Eccles?
Now then......
I have got a mini slow cooker, it saves me a fortune in fuel costs; also I put dinner on in the morning when I am feeling energetic and when it gets to the end of the day and I CBA to cook, there is dinner all ready
slow cookers are great - i like the fact you can just leave them on and go out (something i would never do to something in the oven or on the hob. I also sometimes just chop up ingredients and freeze them raw in a bag, then just get it out of freezer in the morning, put in slow cooker and turn on - ultimate fuss free cookery. My confession is i can't poach eggs (wish i had bluestones egg poacher!) and also i can't make white sauces

Gness, it doesn't have to be culinary just don't mention bodily fluids......
To my shame, I can't bake cakes. They always turn out wrong. Even a simple Victoria Sponge comes out looking like a pancake!
Ah...well in that case I shall have to keep the tale of the firemen, the two white rabbits and the exploding cooker to myself. :-(

Now just need to snuffle out some truffles.
I have a slow cooker and it is a great thing for me because I work such strange hours (ie I might not have to go out until midday, but then won't be home until 7ish).

I have NEVER made a shepherds pie and until recently I had never made a fish pie.

My secret weapon is my "little knife", which I use for just about everything I can. When Mr BM recently "borrowed" it and misplaced it I felt like I'd lost my best friend.
Triggs - isn't it quite a new cooker? And electric knives are not much good in my opinion.

I can poach eggs, find them a doddle.
Why are they not yet making a Hybrid of the slow cooker and the halogen oven?

Food cooked in a slow cooker can be bland, I stick the lid from the halogen oven onto the slow cooker to brown of what ever it is I'm cooking.
"Cheffy Mick " :)
Thinks it's worth having a word with Theo profiterole, dave?
