But I am as happy as a pig in muck this morning......
a diluted version of events are, I catered for 40 friends last Friday 11-11-11 for my 65th, took the food to a Club beside us which was prior arranged, anyway the arse-hole of a committee man, said No and he was going to show the Ireland game instead!
Yes, I was distressed as you may imagine, I had to ring around all my guests to tell them what had happened, my friend threw open her rather large home to everyone and a brilliant night was had by all, then on Wednesday I had a visit from the Club Sec, with a beautiful letter of apology and 20 drinks vouchers if I would go back, this morning, just now in fact, a massive Bouquet of flowers from the Chairman and Committee of the Club, wasn't that lovely?

Yes, very nice of them. Least they could do to be honest isn't it?

Enjoy your flowers :-)
Yes that is lovely Bobbi, and quite right too. I don't think you're leaving yourself wide open to anything- if you booked the club by prior arrangment then that should have been it. The trouble with clubs is there is always at least one a75e of a person on the comittee.
that was a nice gesture.........am sure that you will take your friend around for a few and who knows, you may just get a lunch too, but not withstanding, it could be a nice way to say "thanks for stepping in and saving the day, mate."

I thought the drinks vouchers were a nice gesture tbh BOO, they said there was 20 but actually, there was 19...lol

That's equally as nice Helen, good luck with investigation too.
nice to know they could admit their mistake. at the end of the day, you and your friends had a great time which is what matters. ps belated congrats on reaching your 65th.
Well done Bobbi, what is the next form of action? I think we are of the same line here? I would make it known that this knob head of a Committee person should NOT BE on the committee & try and get him / her voted off, I've met them, jumped up, they think that if they are on the committee the rule the roast. Go for it.xx

Next form of action? Hopefully none! She's got an apology and compensation, why do people become greedy and try to seek what else they can get out of a situation?
Boo, the people that has a little bit of power are a threat to the well being of any club, we have had them here.

Triggs, why do you speak in riddles
oh and thanks for the good wishes :-)
That's pretty scandalous that they'd back out of an agreement previously made to use the club! I'm not sure if the drinkies and flowers would make up for it my books to be honest?
Question Author
SlackAlice, we only went once a week to the music quiz but there was about 8 of us and they all stood by me on this, so, yes, you could be right
