getting around new york city

can anyone tell me if there is a card or ticket or something that gives me unlimited bus and subway travel for a week or a day in new york city? how much would this cost? where would i get it from?

These cards are great. They take a bit of getting used to, they don't "swipe" quite like UK cards in my opinion, but save you a stack. A credit card will buy you one at any subway station very safely. I think they are about $21 per week. One tip though, do swipe carefully, as the cards, by their nature won't allow themselves to be used in quick succession or they freeze you out (to prevent one person in a group buying one then everyone riding free) so swipe carefully and enjoy - stand clear of the closing doors!
