Just one for the american regulars here, At a recent job interveiw in Tampa FA, loads of people asked if i was a limey. Why do you call the british Limeys???

It comes from the days of sailing ships, when british crews were issued with lime juice to prevent the vit c lack that led to scurvy. When I travelled with my husband on Blue Funnel cargo ships in 1974/5, we were still allowed to claim a bottle of roses lime cpordial about once a month.
