Why does AB have an american advert on its front page. I have just been asked to say how much I earn in a year in DOLLARS. Another question asked if I found a penny, would I pick it up. It shows a picture of a penny with Abraham Lincoln on it. Another asks me about education and if I went to high school.
Wait a minute, one has just come up asking what I think is the most all-American food.
Please remove this rubbish and put on something more relevant to the 99% of AB users who reside in the United Kingdom.
Have you got P.M.T or do you really hate America that much as you've already had a go at someone for going to a baby shower. Just for your information i went to a high school in the U.K so whats the problem with that?
I don't understand why anyone would get so annoyed about an advert. I keep getting a "discounted IT equipment" advert showing but it doesn't bother me in the slightest.
AB have to cover their costs somehow and the normal method is to do it via adverts. If they don't interest you, don't click on them.
this is a UK-based site so it does look a little odd. Most of the questions are meaningless to most ABers. Still, does no harm and brings in a few dollars (which are unfortunately worth nothing much at the moment)
Yeah come on guys, AB is a commercial entity and probably costs a lot to run based on the amount of traffic it gets.
Think about server costs, development costs and other running costs such as the ED and we have just got to accept that if the site doesnt make money it probably wouldnt exist.
The advert is for on-line polling. Customers can set up their own polls (for a fee to this company). Then you tell or advertise to the people you select to be polled (UK only if you prefer). And you are able to collect and use that data.
Admittedly, the examples given are not suitable for a predominantly UK site, but the service they provide is suitable and useable by customers anywhere in the world.
Good detective work there Gromit, it seems all we have to do is wait for some UK firm to ask some good questions and we can stop all this moaning.
I don't mind taking part in online research and if it turns out to make AB more money then I have got nothing against that - hopefully they will reinvest some of the profits into better usability.
afraid so, Octavius; I've got one about emergency rule in Pakistan. Is there any possibility the ad is tailored to the individual user, do you suppose?
UKnetguide is owned by Enic plc.It mainly consists of entertainment, sport and media.
The company earns a large sum of money from betting, on American Football, and other sports. This may be a British Company but its a global octupus. still cant figure out them bloomin questions though.!(:O)
I get cr@p adverts too ,I'm a WASP and there is an advert inviting me to Discover Islam but I shall just ignore it and not let it bother me .
WASP = white Anglo-Saxon Protestant for anyone who may not be aware of the meaning .
