Any idea where this is from and what it actually means? I've heard a few people say it, and it's bugging me!

In America in the early 1900s, the Force Food Company held a competition to find a name for the energetic young character they needed to promote a breakfast cereal in their adverts. A schoolgirl named Ficken won with the suggestion 'Sunny Jim' which seemed to convey the bright, happy image the company wanted.
It also sometimes took the form Sonny Jim as a general name for any young lad.
When I was young the most popular cereal packet carried the following

"Hi o'er the fence leaps Sunny Jim
Force is the food that raises him"

Sorry for the hi'jack but can you still buy those wheat flakes ? I used to love them and have'nt seen them in years! thanks.
We had a Sunny Jim doll which was made of cotton and was a special offer from the company.
