'Form is temporary. Class is permanent.' Has this quote been attributed to an individual or is it just one of those things that people say (usually when their team is losing)?

Try popping all the words in to google......seems like a sporting clich�. There are thousands of pages......!

Indeed, I'd tried to find out by searching but there were too many results to work it out. I just wondered if anybody knew of the originator of the phrase but, as you say, it may just be one of those sayings which spontaneously entered the vocabulary of sports fans.
