In RPG's (Role Playing Games) a "mob" is a "Mobile Object". Basically, any creature that you can interact with is a "mob". Generally, though, a friendly person or creature is referred to as an NPC (Non-playing character), and an unfriendly person or creature is referred to as a "mob".
