What do you do and what do you wish you did (or want to do) Is it too late to change career/job, ever?
Does anyone wish they could go back to school, choose different subjects, study harder and start again (work-wise)

i play with laser beams but wish i could be a ghostbuster :)
I'm a solicitor but would love to do something more altruistic again at some point. I'd love to teach for a bit, write a book (s), do loads more voluntary and charity work as used to do loads. Maybe some kind of fundraising co-ordinator.

I used to volunteer at a local hospice and loved helping with diversional therapy as always been very creative and would love to do some more of that.
redcrx - You work with lasers? I have a degree in engineering and worked extensively with Trumpf lasers designing and producing parts for all types of applications, from Disabled Lifts to Caterpiller trucks and bulldozers - I always loved engineering, but really wanted to be a pilot (I tried but failed the medical. Bummer!)
oooh samuel, where were you working?

Oh and its a far cry from being a pilot isnt it lol
Im an Office Manager...at a Marketing and Management Consultancy.

Wish i was involved in something more hands on like Physiotherapy. I would also like to be a primary school teacher or a secondary school PE teacher.
I'm a freelance graphic designer... but bizarrely, have always fancied the idea of working with animals in a zoo/safari park!... too late now though... don't think I could hack the years of training... oh well... back to the iMac...
I work as a software engineer *yawn*... actually, I really like it. New challenges every week and sense of achievment is very high hen something finally works. Biggest problem is bosses not understanding technical implications and setting stupid deadlines. At school I wanted to be a programmer... so I guess I've fulfilled my aim. Not sure where to go next though...

Jenna, write that book in your spare time on your computer, even if you never publish it, do it anyway. Bit at a time.
Paint or draw on holiday. I got all my family writing doggeral (can't call it poetry) as an outlet for all kinds of sad and happy or silly event. They are hooked! Fun to read and to look back at later. We keep a book.
There is so much call for hospice and volunteer work it will always be around, so maybe near or after retirement you will get back to it. Best of luck
I'm a PA... and general dogsbody. It could be worse; I work for my dad so there's perks like coming in late or leaving early if I need to.

I'm desperate to get into Midwifery though. Unfortunately, it's really difficult. There are only ever a few places for the course at the university and so many applicants :o(

Nat84- If you have a degree you can 'top up' to a BEd or a taeching certificate in about a year with most of it in a school. if you did Maths or Science you can even get paid!

Snagged- Know a couple of people with the same idea, but hard to get into and very low pay. One now works as a volunteer at the weekend walking dogs and looking after animals at the rescue centre, the other plans to go logging tortoises in (I think) Costa Rica, on a holiday combined with surfin. It is also possible to do conservation work with elephants and other animals for a couple of weeks holiday.
Im a media planner/buyer its ok but sometimes a bit stressful, anyways I don't care as Im going travelling soon!!
Currently I have three job titles but it's all in admin. I would like to change direction quite drastically tho and do something that I'm actually good at (I'm a very bad PA... apparently 'what did your last slave die of?' is no way to speak to your manager!)

Anyway, I am looking in to going back to night school to get qualified so to speak... which I will decide as soon as I decide whether I'm stopping down here or not.

My mum didn't go in to her current line of work til she was about 45 so I think there's always time to study and change what you want to do... hope so anyway!
I manage a residential home for adults with learning disabilities. I love my job soooooo much. Wouldn't want to do anything else.x
Aw thanks Waaii, I keep meaning to start writing, i used to do so much when I was younger, short pieces, poems, all sorts, get it off my english teacher father.

I've got my laptop now so really should start 9if i can tear myself away from here haha).

I've not drawn for a while, love simple pencil sketching and got a load of art materials here. Not great (http://i12.tinypic.com/2rr4e44.jpg or http://i12.tinypic.com/2m272o3.jpg or http://i11.tinypic.com/2nldzyt.jpg) at it yet but am getting there haha. Always meant to find a local class.

Will definitely get back to hospice work, would love to open my own one day with a special children's bit, make it really special and combine it with lots of land and animals, maybe rescue some.
I'd be up for doing something with that Jenna if you ever do. We run a small horse rescue from our Worcestershire place and it's so much more fulfilling than all of the other cr4p I do.
I for the most part property develope, but also have other ventures like car dealerships, etc.
I like what i do because I'm my own boss and I can pleaase myself to some degree, and it gives me time to write as well , as I always wanted to be an Historian.
Run my own small company, just 7 of us, so end up doing a bit of everything which is ok (mostly). Also got a few sidelines - rent property etc.

I do wish I'd paid more attention at school and studied something that might have actually been useful in business!!
id love to have been a criminal psychologist , studied psychology for a while , too old now me thinks to do anything with myself , just a mere administrator now!!
Hey Cas.... need a PA.... Promise I'll behave ;0) Feeling better?
Serendipidy, you're never too old honey!! Why not try an Open University course or night school?

I'm a P.A. and although I enjoy the work I would love to do something to do with film/tv - not actually on tv or in films but behind the scenes. Anything to get close Wentworth!
