What does the phrase 'Go Figure' mean? I've heard it used but have no idea

it's not quite that... it's more like 'That doesn't make any sense' ... sort of short for 'Go and figure out how that's supposed to make sense'.

It's often used when rebutting an argument especially in the US, It's essentially saying: "you're talking rubbish and you might realise it if you actually think about what you're saying" eg:


"The world is flat", "yeah well Steve Fosset just flew all around it, go figure"

I don't think any of these answers quite hit it - but I can do no better! It's one of those phrases that has no equivalent in the UK - and the best way to understand it is to examine as many possible real examples of its use in US English. I have used it in the US and was praised that I got the context bang on!
i think the uk version could be 'how about that then?' or 'well what do ya know' or 'you dont say'. its almost always used in a sarcastic way.
