Where does the saying, "What a load of Cobblers" come from, as in, what a load of rubbish.

If I remember correctly, it is rhyming slang for cobblers awls (balls), an awl being a tool a cobbler used.

I am a cockney and postdog is 100% right theres loads more of them as well if i remember correctly rhyming slang first came about so that the police didn't have a clue what people were talking about,but if anyone can correct that please do
