I think it's mostly an attempt to fit the usual working day and accompanying travel into daylight hours as far as possible.
It was somehting to do with in the war. It was to give framers more hours of day light during the winter months
Because we put them forward in the Spring to get more daylight hours in the waking day. Some history here and more details here
Farmers are not very busy in winter so that reason must be a fallacy , they are busy in summer but then the days are long enough .The reason must be to increase regulatory intervention in our lives aka govt control
einsteinsdog - govt control? - barnocks - what about school kids in scotland and northern ireland, do you not care that they get to school safely?
