I can't seem to find an answer to this, but given that DNA is made up of four chemical bases arrange opposite each other on a 'ladder', and there are approximately 3 billion of these pairs... We'd need 2 bits to store each chemical base, times 2 for each pair, times 3 billion... equals 12 billion bits (or about 1.5Gbytes)
