What is the meaning of "infinity pools" in the following sentence?

 

The Louvre's main entrance was visible now, rising boldly in the distance, encircled by seven triangular infinity pools from which spouted illuminated fountains.

infinity pools are pools (like swimming pools) where the water flows over the edge (usually onto a ledge or something and it then gets circulated back into the pool)

it gives the illusion of the water going on for ages (hence the name infinity!) as there's no edge to the pool

I didnt know what an infinity pool was, andi ws going to write that i was going to visit the Louvre and have a look.

The front of the Louvre is a early nineteenth century court and theyhave stuck a glass pyramid init.

This is not as bad as it sounds...
