are "yo" and "whassup?" still used as greetings among youngsters today and, if not, what's the current equivalent? In case you're wondering, no I'm not trying to get down with the kids!

I don't think I've ever actually heard any UK people say either of those seriously but then I tend to not mix with many street talkers because it irrtates me. Most of my friends say ' Hi' or 'Hey' or ' How's it going?'. Not sure that's very helpful really but I can;t think of anything unique that 'youngsters' really say that 'oldsters' don't:)

Cannot forget Bush at table looking up and saying "yo Blair" !
In Albania, yo means "no" and po means "yes". I was very confused when I first went there. When we didn't like something when I was at school we said "mince". No idea when or how that started.

I hate the term 'whatever' Mr.c knows and says it even more just to irritate me.
In my neck of the woods ( Black Country ) Yo with a Black Country accent means You.
