Been searching for ages, my nan used to know it but it died with her. I can only remember a few lines. It started 'A pennorth of rice if you please Mr Grit, the jar in my cupboard needs filling....'. I think it was called 'The Grocer'. Something else to do with 'some haricot beans and a tin of sardines...' Probably dates from the thirties.

This is as much as I can find. There must be more but I can;t find it.

A pennorth of rice if you please Mr Grit, the jar in my cupboard wants filling. And give me a block of your pineapple rock, the sort you can buy for a shilling. Some haricot beans and a tin of sardines, .....your goods are so nice I could buy and could buy, no matter how much I am spending. Give your goods to the man in the car, it will save you the trouble of sending.
