Im looking for a rather flashy word for someone who, if you do something, he has to do something bigger and better.

Also for a word that describes someone who has to be in control all the time....control freak was my suggestion but need something a bit...would meglomaniac suit ?

a megalomaniac imagines himself powerful but isn't necessarily; control freak is better though slangy. "Controlling personality" perhaps.
