Motown is the nickname for Detroit, Michigan (short for "Motor Town" due to the automobile industry). In this context it refers to the legendary Motown Record Company, or Tamla Motown, founded by Berry Gordy in 1959. "Old Motown acts" will refer to artists or groups from the 50s, 60s and 70s such as Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, The Temptations or The Four Tops.

Hi kay- jay

Some things go out of fashion and dont sell, and others go out of fashion but people like me will still go out and attend shows with artistes who were hits when we were young rather than listen to the complete c*ap which is popular now. The venues themselves, as we turn up in our quiffed hair styles, elvis boots and so on, are about as battered as the fans and the cars we arrive in.
