The imminent visit of the Pope has raised questions as to the millions of pounds it will cost for his visit will be money well spent due to the recent scandal regarding child abuse among the clergy. If he were to visit your town centre ,would you go to see him?

Possibly, but only to throw things or shout insults.
...with a rubber johnny on my head.
No.
I might - I have my P90 and my AK47 but can't find my grenade launcher.
I happened to be in St Peter's Square in Rome shortly after his election and saw him there; photos for my mother = king of the world status.

would i go see him especially? No, but only because celebrity doesn't impress me. I wouldn't go see any head of state, unless they happened to be puttig on a great show too.

As to the cost - surely all that security means the kids will at least be safe for a few days... ;-)
d'you think most catholics would go and see him?
i wouldn't but i'm not catholic or religous. there again, i wouldn't go and see the queen if she came to our local down centre. or any other celebrity type person.
i wouldn't go see him, but not because of the child abuse thing. Simply becauseto me he is just another person, i am not catholic, and do not subscribe to the theory that he is God's representative on earth
No, I would not; however, I also wouldn't go out of my way to see the Queen, PM, the US President, or even Elvis Presley: I am not a gawker.
if johnny depp came to my village i might condescend to go and see him :)
Maybe they'll concentrate on the cost of him rather than the deluded notion of subsidising Scotland for a wee while.

I wouldnt go as I;m not religious -I dont get it at all apart from the fact every war seems to encompass the comfort it gives to some......
no
Hun:)
yup
:-)
he`s coming to my local town. If I`m around I would think about going to see him. Not because I have any affinity with the RC church, just because it`s an historical moment (a bit like seeing Princess Diana`s funeral)
lol;)
When`s he coming anyway?
237SJ -What ??????????
I would see him. I dont blame him for the abuse cases, that's due to the individuals who should have been dealt with by civil law. The church cannot over-ride the law.
I understand if you're Catholic -dont get it at all if you're not.

I recall a Pope coming to Bellahouston Park (obv i havent googled) in Glasgow and i worked beside a woman who was devout,.Now Scotland like ireland have a huge number of Catholics and this woman was beside herself to get a ticket. She went to regular masses-everything a good Catholic does.
She said it was the most powerful occasion of her life.

Fast forward to 237SJ's remarks (sorry not picking but you did post) who would go just for the jolly basically (my words).I dont think thats fair even from an aethiest.
Dris, why not? Nothing much happens in my local town (apart from world class rugby evens) so if I happen to be in town and with nothing much to do, why should I not go and see The Pope?
