Putting my head above the parapet again ? the recent disclosure by the foreign office of a memo regarding the popes visit for example to launch a range of Benedict condoms I find deeply offensive I thought we were a tolerant society I am aware of the scandal ongoing regarding child abuse.
All catholics in England and Wales will be praying on the four fridays in May for reperation and atonement and for all who have suffered abuse they are the personal sins of a very few but we have to accept that their sins touch every Catholic
Full co-operation with statutory bodies is now ongoing and we will continue to be vigilant.
As father John said in church yesterday WHO WOULD BE A PRIEST these days we had a young priest in training who was accused of abuse later found to be malicous and unfounded is this how we carry on we have lost a fine young man who will never return to the church
As a devout catholic I sincerely hope that when they see priests in the dock they will call off the dogs

Yes, Naomi !!

What happened to "the buck stops here" ?

What happened to the person at the top accepting responsibility for the acts of those beneath him ?

The Pope is just saying ... "Not my problem, mate!"

(although he says it in German, presumably)
Many many Catholics suffer from misplaced loyalty. Myself included.
Jayne, I think Andy hit the nail on the head when he said these people believe they can behave exactly as they wish without fear of reprisals. Seems they can!

Ummmm, at least you acknowledge your loyalty is misplaced - which is more than the pope does.
ummmm ...

The difference is ... you sound as if you have the independance of mind to question the "blind loyalty" thing.

Too many "religious faithful" ... from ALL faiths ... are too stupid, or too intimidated, to really think it through.

They just follow the line.

One in ten people in some parts of Africa have HIV.

They have no way to feed a child.

If they have unprotected sex, they will die, and their child will die.

The Pope forbids them to use condoms.

The Pope is condemning the woman, and her child to death.

Too many Catholics just say ... "Oh yes, it must be right, because the holy father says so."
Absolutely right Jayne.
Naomi - you have to remember that guilt is a cornerstone of the Catholic faith - everything is forbidden ... unless it's compulsory!

A more 'appropriate' joke would be -

A man is walking around heaven on his first day, and Saint Peter is showing him around - the Jewish section, the Moslem section,, the Hindu section, and finally they reach a secion with a twelve foot wall around it. Saint Peter asks the man if he would remember to whisper when he walks past the walled section. Why? enquires the man.

"Because this is the Catholic section ..." advises the Saint

" ...and they think they are the only ones here!"
Andy, and that applies to other religions too - oh, and so does the joke by the way. :o)
lol Andy...
