Unfortunately, the publicity for the World Cup will most likely overshadow the publicity for Armed Forces Day...
And quite right to.
I'm sick of hearing about soldiers moaning about their dead friends or whining like babies because they've had a limb blown off. Pathetic. Get it in perspective guys! There are some other people who have to kick a bag of wind about for 90 minutes! A hour and a half! And in the winter too!!!
So think on you veterans and serving military personnel – dodging bullets and living in conditions that most of us would would put in the category of 'squalor'. Stop moaning and think about our brave boys playing the dangerous game of football in the South African 'winter'.

I'm sure that our armed forces don't automatically "expect" the nation to turn out flag waving just because someone's decided to name a day after them. I certainly didn't and I served over 15 years in the Army. It's a job of choice nowadays - conscription's long gone. We all know the dangers.
I must admit that to still have the likes of anniversaries for Dunkirk, for example, has worn pretty thin. We are past masters, though, at turning disasters into triumph.
But, if anyone feels the need to go flag waving, who am I to dissuade them? Everyone to his own.

I'd bet a pound to a penny that neither of you do anything even remotely dangerous to earn a living. And yet you both casually portray the armed forces as being full of educational non-achievers who are incapable of doing any other job - presumably in a pathetic attempt to make yourselves feel better that you haven't got the b*lls or ability to do what these people do. Do you seriously think that every person who applies to join the army is successful? They most certainly are not.
As for your joint assertion that anyone in the armed forces automatically achieves 'hero' status is naïve, stupid and reeks of jealousy.
Just because you don't agree that our armed forces should be in Afghanistan and Iraq (which I too disagree with) doesn't mean that they should be ridiculed in such a pathetic and demeaning way.
You should be ashamed of yourselves but I have no doubt that you won't be.
