Back in the day, when Z cars was THE cop show to watch and we called them the Bizzies not the bill, they managed to solve a case in 30 minutes or an houe, depending on which season it was as it went to an hour as Softly Softly.
Now the Bill are able to solve a case in an hour,
With no CCTV's, internet, DNA, mobile phones, forensic databases and computers, how come the lads in Z cars still managed to get the job done in an hour?

Simple, the drama expands to fill the allotted time.
They read the last page of the script, so knew whodunnit!!
It used to be the same in The Bill when Bob Cryer and Frank Burnside ruled the roost.

I watched the Bill last night, and if it wasn't for the CCTV footage they trawled through they'd have had nothing!!!!
The Bill is not actually a cop show anymore, it started off as one originally but it's turned into a soap and like all soaps is a pile of incoherant sh1te for the brainless masses. The fact that it's based on a Police situation is no more convincing than Albert Square

i agree actually R1, last night when I was watching I spent most of my viewing experience laughing at the number of cliches, coincidences, leaps of faith and fown right lack of physical evidence, the CPS must sit and laugh at it
I was only thinking whilst watching last night's episode of The Bill, why don't they have any Chief Inspectors or DCIs any more?

I wish they'd get rid of the bumbling "CSI", Eddie, as well as the CIs & DCIs. The character's a joke.
