Hi Guys,

I've been a bit naughty. Well, not naughty, but I made a mistake. Back in May, I had flu and was off work for a grand total of 7 working days. At the time, my manager asked if I'd been to the doctor, to which I replied yes, just so it sounded as if I was making the effort to get better. The truth is that I didn't bother to go to the doctor, because I thought it was just a cold.
I've now been asked to get a doctors note as I had more than 5 days off, but I'm not sure if I can get one if I didn't actually see the doctor?
I'm getting a little worried now as I don't want work to find out I lied, even though its not exactly the biggest, most damaging lie in the world.

Sooo, can you get a docs certificate if you didn't actually go to the docs? Please say you can!

Thanks!

doubtful. I'm sure a doctor would have to have at least spoken to you on the phone at the time.

7 days with a cold? really?!!!

I actually went back in to work after 6 days, but was sent home again because I looked so bad, so they at least know that I wasn't faking illness. I did say it turned out to be flu, but thought it was a cold in the early stages.
if you went back to work on day 6, doesn't that make it 2 periods of sick leave? the first being 5 days..

Apparently not if they're asking for the note :(
you can always go back to you docs now and explain your situation and ask for a note for that time you were off. you may be charged for it though.
back in may? Why are they asking for it now, surely you have had your wages from then?
If you didnt see your doctor how can you ask him to write a note saying you were sick. it could be fraud.
How come your company has only just asked for this.
It does sound like your HR dept are a bit behind.
indien.....Right.

Go to your GP and explain the situation to him AND.if you are subservient and apologetic and have and haven't been a trouble maker, your Dr. will backdate the note for you.

HOWEVER..if you have been a pain in the @rse to the practice, gobby, knowall and confrontational...then he won't.
are you talking about me, Sqad? :o)
Hee Hee sqad - dead right!
And if your GP is anything like sqad, a quick flash of your baps won't do any harm either... in fact, it may result in your GP giving you the whole pad of sick notes... you can be ill whenever you like ;-)
sara....how dare your? Remember you are 12th on my list.

salla...I was always averse to seeing teachers, they were known clevers0ds.
This particular one came with her son and when i said "Come and sit down my dear"
She replied " I am not your dear and don't patronise me".

I told the nurse to put her on the waiting list and mark it "not urgent"

Snotty bu99er.
snags........LOL....only if they are female.....not into male baps.
Gettin' fussy in your dotage eh lmao ;-)
snags...well........maybe your'e right.
snags - ha ha ha - ^^ - you know Sqad so well.............................................
12th

:o(
blimey sqad, most surgeons rarely see patients unless its a pep talk before the op and even then they talk at you and not to you :o
^ Better than 13th... and think of poor number 1...
