Valentine's Day Flowers.

I have just arrived home from Sainsburys. What a sad sight it was to see so many men wandering around the fresh flower department looking for the cheapest bunch of decent flowers.

The look of desperation on their faces was clear to see. There was one bloke wandering about when I went in and he was still wandering about when I'd finished my shopping and was coming out. He probably resorted to a box of Maltesers in the long run!

Mr T never buys me flowers for Valentine's Day. I forbid it! Such a waste of money in my opinion.

I only know a couple of things about flowers, one being that there are more and more pansies around these days.

Lots of red roses as well, Douglas.
Neither does Mr B, he knows I think flowers belong in the garden or park
Why is it a sad sight that men are looking for flowers? How you you know they were looking for the cheapest bunch?
You're not wrong, Tilly, could hardly get in the door of Morrisons yesterday.

Some might say that they've lost their impact and sentiment when they're stacked beside the Pepsi and Pringles to snare the impressionable.
Lol mr Red gave me cactus today as it’s small and prickly like me!!!
I’ll show him small!!
Nothing like a quick flash of smalls.
^^ Eee Douglas - you have a way with words.
Hardly small at 5ft 7 just because at his height of 6ft 4 anyone looks small
The flower wholesalers have killed VD themselves by inflating the prices year on. I've seen roses today at £28 per bunch, the public have had enough of being taken for mugs. I have not seen anyone buying them.
I always have fresh flowers in the house but I wouldn't buy them this week at such inflated prices. It was very sad to see loads of bunches of red roses in my small local Co-Op yesterday, unsold but already drooping.
The ones I did love was when the residents of my street brought me a huge bunch of lemon roses for organising the platinum jubilee party
Mr. J2 doesn't buy me flowers either, or a card, come to that. He said in a horrified tone 'Oh! It's Valentine's Day tomorrow!' - about 2 hours ago. I don't think I've ever had a Valentine card from him, although once we went for a special meal.
I would also be annoyed if he paid inflated prices. I like to have some flowers in the house and I buy them, but not this week - and not around Mother's Day either!
I saw that Waitrose had nice red rose bouquets today - only £65.
(Apparently, it wasn't unusual for people to buy expensive roses and then return them three/four days later...because they hadn't lasted the "guaranteed" life that Waitrose stated ie 5 days and Waitrose could only refund the full price paid!)
My late OH always marked Valentine's Day on the 15th, he was a Yorkshireman, they would be reduced and possible last until my birthday a few days later!
Morrisons had a dozen red roses on offer for £3.99 yesterday.
I went into my city centre Sainsbury's yesterday...not a superstore...and the whole of the entry was a carpet of roses and numerable other red blooms. No one was looking or seemed interested...maybe they were by closing time. I didn't look at the prices.
While flowers are pretty, they are already dying ...I'd rather a plant any day. My daughter buys flowers...only when greatly reduced though.
Tilly. You forbid him ? We know the prices are higher, but a nice bunch of flowers or a small gift is romantic.
I love flowers but not picked flowers or bouquets. Mt T knows that.
