My frames are in very good nick and so I would just like updated lens in them. I have recently been tested and so Specsavers would know the prescription. Would there be any problem with that?

My wife often has an old pair of glasses made up to current prescription as a spare.

The only thing to watch is that sometimes it is as dear as taking their 'cheap' option. Depends on how much you like the frames you have of course.
She had them done at Specsavers. Not that she will go back there after the last debacle.
It's usually cheaper to get new than re-glaze old frames.
Yes at Specsavers it is cheaper to buy new. Can’t remember how much more expensive to keep old frames but wasn’t worth it.
I use the website TigerSpecs - they are amazing!

Smo that tiger site wouldn't be for prescription prescribed or am I reading that wrong
You are right, JJ, Tiger Specs don't sell prescription glasses
This company does put new prescription lenses in your old frames - don't know about the prices

It's not only Specsavers...just about every optical business dislike putting new lenses in old frames (several reasons) and will discourage you from doing it (partly by making it more expensive to do so).
What other glasses are their except prescription? Even off-the-shelf reading glasses you have to estimate what strength you need which is kinda self-prescribing.

Many of the cheap on-line supplies only supply single strength lenses, so no bi/varifocals or prism lenses.
Big profit in new frames
barry's link is to one of the unusual ones!
JJ, you were given some good answers in your previous thread on this:

yes - very comprehensive
Indeed...I knew I had answered this question before, quite recently.
Perhaps jj needs new specs more than she thought!

⁶apols for repeat

Just been to Specsavers for a little repair job on my VFs and, as i waited to be seen, one of their female employees came walking past, her glasses on her head, and tripped. Of course i couldn't resist it; "You should have gone to Specsavers." She had the good grace to laugh.
I had lenses replaced in a pair of glasses that I really liked. A few weeks later the frame broke and Specsavers wouldn’t take any responsibility for it so I’ve never done it again.
Were they Specsavers frames originally? If so how old were they?

I want a pair of glasses not cats eyes!
