Chekov was not in the first series of TOS. He was introduced after it was pointed out that a Russian character was conspicuous by his absence.

gromit, not strictly true, I don't like Discovery and I haven't really got into Picard but I just discovered that with Sky Cinema I get Paramount+ free so err indoors and I will be watching SNW, hopefully we'll watch the first episode tonight.
