............was the impression I got when the Tory MPs applauded Johnson out of the commons yesterday. I can only assume that the applause was relief at finally getting rid of him. Can't think of any other reason to applaud him.

He could possibly have had the clap 10C.

Maybe but he couldn't get out fast enough could he?
You're right - many of them are back stabbing hypocrites. I can only assume those ones applauded through convention although others are genuinely sad to lose BJ. Poor show.
Going forward, if the backstabbers have any sense at all … they'll watch their backs.
Well it's a no-win really. They are either vindictive or insincere.
Or both
Or both.
Yes
No, it's simply polite and the right thing to do.

Not that many people have manners these days.
It is polite and the right thing to be SEEN to be doing - but in such company I'd be watching my back,
It happened with Blair, Brown, Cameron and May - from both sides.

Yesterday Labour chose not to.

Curious how Blair, who took us into an illegal war as Bush's lapdog and was ultimately responsible for the death of British service personnel, was clapped by the whole house, but BJ wasn't.

BJ may have been liberal with the truth at times, but he didn't commit us to a war we had no right to be in.
Lol

So the Tories are criticised for applauding their own PM and Labour are criticised for not doing so.
YMB is right: manners cost nothing, and I'm disappointed Labour chose not to do the right thing.
It is standard behaviour though when anyone leaves anywhere to be falsely nice. Just the same as dead people who become unrecognisable paragons at their funeral eulogies.
Whatever Boris' faults he has more charisma and leadership qualities in his little finger than any of the potential replacements. I think some in the party will come to regre what's happened.

So very true ^^^

Even though your fast bowler has sent the opening batsman back to the pavilion, if he is now bowling rubbish and is being hit all over the ground.......he must be taken off. This is what happened to Boris and if you want to call it "back stabbing" then be my guest.

To end up ,on your final speech to the house with "Hasta La Vista ..Baby" is just unstatesmanlike and rather immature........as politics has become today.
//To end up ,on your final speech to the house with "Hasta La Vista ..Baby" is just unstatesmanlike and rather immature//

But possibly meaningful.

It made me laugh anyway.
sqad I wandered if the ""Hasta la vista baby" Terminator referance was a hidden "I'll be back" message. (He wont be back tho'... his a busted flush)
The Sperminator.
