Nice Surprise!

In the post this morning we had a letter from TV licensing, it enclosed a check for £157.50 being a refund for the licence we paid.
No reason in the letter. WE are mystified but has anyone else had this.

I'm 78 and OHis 83. Not on any benefits at all.

There was a bit of confusion when we paid but we got one payment cancelled. Checked all accounts and only one payment has gone through. Not complaining though.

MIL is in a council sheltered housing complex, and for some reason has been told she doesn't have to pay.

Unfortunately the message came just after she paid but is hoping to get it refunded.

I thought that I'd got a nice surprise when I had an email from the National Lottery last week, telling me that I should log into my online account because I'd won a prize.

I knew that it's not necessary to log in just to be told that I've won a Lucky Dip ticket for getting two numbers right (because that news comes directly in an email anyway), so I realised that there had to be some real money involved. Knowing that the minimum win is £30 (for three numbers), I thought that I'd at least be able to buy myself a decent treat and hoped that I might have won far, far more, allowing me to lead a life of luxury in future.

Unfortunately I'd forgotten that in a 'rolldown' week, all of the regular prizes are enhanced a bit, with people who've got two correct numbers winning both a Lucky Dip ticket and a FIVER. So I think that I'd better cancel my order for the Maserati :(
