Danny @ 08.48: /Apart from Pele, can you name one player who was a better footballer than Maradonna?: Absolutely. George Best was the greatest footballer I've ever seen. From scoring his first 2 goals against Sunderland in 1963 in the FA Cup, I watched him, home and away throughout his career with Manchester United. Maradonna couldn't lick his boots. Best...
I must admit the only thing I remember him for is the "Hand of God" incident. I think if you did a survey in England asking "Who was Maradonna?" most people would refer to "Hand of God".
TTT // shall I go on?//
Yes, straight to the jokes section.Maradonna is recognised, by those who are better placed than you to make an assessment, as the best footballer of all time.
Better than Maradona, Ronaldo, Neymar maybe, many more with better skills in aspects of their game, Messi of course. Like many whose star shone too bright he burned out just as fast. Not saddened by his passing, sadness I keep for those I care about. As for the handball incident, happens so often, no player is going to say sorry ref it was my hand when so much was at stake.
From what I have read of his lifestyle he was never going to live a long, fruitful and useful one.
Sorry he is dead.
Right now let's get on with those who deserve our respect.
