Why don’t they roll like they used to?

Just aren’t the same any more it’s like eating a lacy pancake.

I made a load this morning ! yum yum
I've never even heard of (or considered) rolling crumpets. As far as I'm concerned, a decent crumpet need to be toasted to a nice crisp rigidity on both top and bottom. I don't want floppy crumpets!

However it seems that some people must do!

So give Iceland a try.
Like Buenchico, I've never heard of rolling crumpets. What does it mean?

Scots Crumpets are a wee bit different Buenchico - but I’ll definitely I give them a whirl. I don’t enjoy toasted things at all though.

Need to locate an Iceland...

Minty I’m jealous lol ;)

Scots Crumpets

These are soft pancake-like fare but made larger and more thinly than pancakes. They can be spread with butter and/or jam and they are traditionally rolled up before eating.

I'm imagining you rolling them down a hill, but that can't be right.
Ah, thank you.
so the Scots can cram more in....

The Scottish breakfast tea was good, minty, (just used up) thanks xxx

I don’t think they’d get very far Cloverjo!
Hope the definition helps.

I like mine with a wee bit butter and well rolled or in current situations folded in half.
A bit like pikelets?
I thought it was a new sport too.
The one thing I dislike about them is they literally are like butter sponges in you can easily spread 250 gms of butter on one so not good for the waistline or the heart :(
that's nice DT ..pleased you liked it..goodies all gone ?

I like how Leven is closer than Musselburgh - thanks Buenchico!

What is a Pikelet Taichiperson? I have to say I love the name it’s so dinky ;)

There’s only 30g melted in the recipe. I don’t like a lot of butter and a crumpet is so thin (usually). I don’t eat them often so I think my waist and ticker are safe (for now)
the large flat pancake style crumpets in ASDA are nice Q
Tai..yes..that's what they are known as down south
They're like fat crepes.
