Every chance they will Kate, it has happened to me in the past.
I'd be surprised if they did
It should not be a problem if you explain to your bank what has happened. If you are not well known personally, take some id with you as well as any supporting paperwork. Technically you can "endorse" the reverse cheque with both the incorrect and then the correct details. Your bank may advise though that the drawer of the cheque may return it. This should not happen but if it does then you will have to seek a replacement from the organisers.
I got a cheque from the Mail with wrong initial.Returned it and got a correctly addressed one.
sorry . . . "reverse of the cheque"

the paper I won the crossword printed my name correctly, will I take that to the bank with me as well as proof of address etc.
Kate, to save any hassle return it and ask for a correctly addressed one.

I am going into the bank tomorrow anyway,so I might ask them their advice as well,
My friend is known by her middle name, so has often received cheques with the 'wrong' initial. She has normally had to return them and ask them to be changed to her real initial.
just bank it, they wont even look probably.
Probably depends on whether they notice.
With one hassled teller per bank these days they're probably too flustered to note such minor things.
Why make yourself trouble. If they reject, have your tale ready. Otherwise it goes through, done & dusted.
Flonska is of course right
BUT
I would just try paying it in

I paid a cheque into PP's account and it was Jonny Smith-Brown.
oops I got confused! but it was for £2.17 and I think all parties could not face the cost and pother about bouncing it

another time, I got an e short - Parks instead of Parkes
and the bank sent it back to me
( one of the times you stare at the cheque and think - what the hell is wrong with them, why didnt they honour it?)

oh and well done for winning
I won a punch caption comp in 1980 once
