I genuinely dont understand this "if i can't have em neither can you" attitude, and thankfully neither can the majority of other people!

It seems to be a combination of hate and rage. And maybe they want to leave the mother with a lifelong burden of guilt. 'It's your fault this happened,' they seem to be saying.
There are some very sick people about - to do this to their poor children. Its a "copycat" situation now I think.
I can't understand how somebody can take the lives of their kids - it is just utterly incomprehensible and is the act of an utter bastard.

Presumably Prudie and Boo will express sympathy for the man given the comments in this thread;

It's not 'hate'

It's self indulgence.

'He' was more important than 'them'
And he proved it!!!
i will never understand those parents who kill their children. Do you wonder if his past has caught up with him, being in that terrible carnage, it wouldn't excuse it at all though.
Maybe they think they are taking their chidren with them. Not all believe that on bodily death it is the end of the individual's existence.

That stated, if your mind is in that state who is to say whether reasonable thought plays any part.
no sorry doesn't wash, i have been in a far worse state and seen any number of mothers and fathers also in a far worse state and i am 100 percent sure they would not do this.
You really can't blame the IRA for the fact that this 'man' was a self indulgent, spiteful arse hole. Lots of people have seen and experienced lots of terrible things, they don't then go out and think 'I know my ex is happy and I'm not included so I'll stuff up her life forever by killing the kids and then she'll never forgive herself', which is exactly why he has done it, lame, disgusting apology for a man.
How would you know what state someone else is in ? You are not inside their head.
I am sorry it is nothing to do with hate - it is a spitefull cowardly move - brought on by some mental break down.
I do actually occasionally buy into it being a misguided and mentally ill attempt to all stay together, but not in most instances where a father kills his kids.
Damn pressed submit before I meant to.

We do not know what is going on in his head - with all due respect to Em10 sorry but this man whilst I don't condone what he has done had to be desperate.

It is a terrible waste by a man who must have felt he had nowhere to go.
which is why i said, it wouldn't excuse it at all though
It's a real tragedy and not the action of a rational person. In my book the guy must have had severe mental issues to have done this.
No matter how much of 'a bad place' this man and the man who also killed his kids last month were in it still doesn't excuse murdering your own children

Selfish cowards who have had a life murdering their own children whose lives had barely started, in all likelyhood to spite the childrens mother because she'd moved on
"You really can't blame the IRA for the fact that this 'man' was a self indulgent, spiteful arse hole."

I don't think anyone did NOX, and what he did was wrong, wrong and wrong again, but maybe his head was so fcuked up from the bombing that he had lost the place altogether and the separation was merely the straw that broke the camel's back.

I can never excuse what has happened, but we will never know what his rationale was, if indeed there was one. I have seen worse over the years, but I don't know what is front of me.
