That is sad - he had quite a range as an actor, I always remember him in The Vikings, and The Poseidon Adventure, came over as a likeable person offscreen.

great actor ....
He was a fine actor. I first came across him in the comedy series McHale's Navy.
I seem to remember reading or hearing some time ago that he was the oldest living Oscar winner.
That is sad news, may he rest in peace.
Sad he's dead but he was hardly Oscar material.
Sorry to hear this news. We've lost another fine actor.
How old was he?
He was a good actor.
95
He must have done something right he was in more than a hundred films , numerous other television appearances , voice roles. RIP Ernest.
He won an Oscar for his role in Marty. He must have been a fair actor when he was younger.
95 not a bad innings.
As far as I can remember I have never seen 'Marty' so can't comment on whether he deserved an Oscar or not. He had one for it anyway.
I saw it and it was a well deserved Oscar for him. Very very good film.
Apologies......he did receive an Oscar for his role in Marty. I'm still sad he's dead.
I'll always remember him for 'Marty' too, geat film great actor. RIP Ernie
I remember you fondly.

jem
So sad another good old boy gone, I'll always remember him as Dutch in "The Wild Bunch" one the greatest westerns ever made and one of my top ten all time favourite films.
He certainly had a busy life. He was married five times!
His wife Tova Borgnine sells her skin/perfume and jewellery on QVC. She always talks foundly of him on there.
