I know we often have to suffer seeing the same joke posted twice within a week or so but to see the same joke submitted twice within 2 days!! Don't people read the jokes on AB before they decide to submit which is very obviously not their own.

If I hear a joke and it makes me laugh (or grown) I like to share (or inflict) it on fellow ABers. I don't come on here every day and certainly don't read every post......so inevitably there will be some repeats.
Quite right, a YouGov petition is required before we've nothing left to laugh at, except maybe dour, suffering folks with a lot of time on their hands.

Anyway, what's brown and sticky?
How does a joke become your own?
A stick.
Aye. :)
//How does a joke become your own?//
It's only yours if you create it. I created a joke once, but because I didn't get it I didn't post it.
Who is likely to create and post original funny jokes here or anywhere ? Anyone that good will be flogging them to the comedians.

Deja moo.
The same old bull.
None taken O_G. :)
Can't understand those folk who don't look back to check out the jokes they haven't read. They're missing out on a lot.
Before posting a joke – use the search function (top centre), inputting a short ‘key phrase’ from the joke will reveal if it has already been posted on this site.
No always hymie as it might be the same joke but with a different title.
I don't check to see if the same joke has been put on previously as it's not that important.
If you've seen it before, then go on to the next one. Simples!
Not everybody visits the site every day.
McMouse **I created a joke once, but because I didn't get it I didn't post it.**
That actually made me laugh.
Most of them aren't funny anyway so does it matter? Does anyone like this one: Man to waiter, " Give me a crocodile sandwich and make it snappy!".
Bob Monkhouse said "When I was young I told everyone that when I grew up I wanted to be a comedian, and they all laughed - They're not laughing now"
elliemay I think people did laugh at that joke when it first came out about 50yrs ago.
Time Vine picked up the award for the year's funniest joke at the Loaded Laftas comedy awards recently with:-

‘Conjunctivitis.com - that's a site for sore eyes.’ Which does nothing for me, but it is only February, so who knows.

The humour of a joke is in the ‘eye of the beholder’ – Rojash found my ‘Baby Monitor’ joke very funny, while others were not so impressed. A joke can catch you in just the right mood to find it funny, whereas at another time it might not be (so) funny (to you).

Similarly, some jokes posted tickle me, while others deride them. At least there is some filtering of the jokes posted on this site – in that the poster thought it worthy of sharing with others.

The jokes section is my favourite on AB – so keep them coming.
Tim Vine must have won because the joke was told this year, certainly not for originality. I first saw this joke during the sixties where it was written on a sign at a building site, telling the public a new opticians was going to be built.
Agree, Vulcan. I couldn't believe Tim Vine got an award for that oldie!
